Thank you to Novellas!

Just a quick thank you to Dawn at Novellas in New Paltz for allowing us to provide dessert to everyone at the Wedding Vendors of the Hudson valley meeting on Tuesday evening! Everything was fantastic and the space is beautiful! Be sure to check it out for your upcoming events!

In case you're wondering, the Wedding Vendors enjoyed a variety of Cake Devils sweets, including rainbow cookies, snickerdoodle cookies, soft molasses cookies, white chocolate & cranberry cookies during the event. They were also all given a cupcake in a box (some chocolate cake, some spiced Guinness cake) to take home... however, big surprise, none of them made it out the door! ;)

The most personalized cake we've ever made!

One VERY personalized Sweet 16 cake!

The Customer
This Sweet 16 cake was, without a doubt, the most personalized cake we have ever made. It was one very special cake for one amazing young woman. In addition to being wowed by this young lady, working with this family to design her cake was such a nice experience. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to do this cake and have our lives touched by this family.

This birthday girl is one active girl! In our first contact with the family, we got some insight into all that she does. Let me tell you... the list goes on! We were quite impressed! She is one amazing young woman! The goal was to incorporate aspects from all of her activities onto the cake. They knew what they wanted on this cake and together we worked up a great design with them.

The Flavors
There were two delicious flavors in this incredible four tier cake. The top two tiers were Red Velvet Cake with a Cream Cheese filling, iced in a Vanilla Buttercream and finished with a Vanilla Fondant. The bottom two tiers were Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, with a Chocolate filling, iced in Chocolate Buttercream and finished with a Vanilla Fondant.

The Design
Each tier of this four tiered cake represented one aspect of the birthday girl's daily life.

Top Tier:
She's a cheerleader! The top tier of this amazing design is filled with aspects of her cheerleading. Red and white are her school colors at North Rockland High School and the paw print represents her school's mascot.

Second Tier:
She plays basketball on the Police Athletic League! This tier was done in a pale orange fondant to represent basketball, yet keep with the muted colors chosen for the design. Along with the obvious basketball items on this tier, you'll find her numbers and the PAL initials for the Police Athletic League.

Third Tier:
She's an EMS volunteer! Impressed with her yet? I certainly am, and we still have one tier to go!! This tier was done in a light blue background to represent the colors of her ambulance corps in Stony Point, NY. Along with the really cute ambulance and other obvious items, you'll notice the letters SPAC, which stand for Stony Point Ambulance Corps.

Fourth Tier:
And last, but certainly not least, she's a volunteer for the fire department! As I said in the beginning... amazing! This tier was done in a dusty gray fondant to keep with the muted background colors and makes a great representation of smoke! On this tier, you will again find the obvious items and, if you didn't guess by now, her number is 23.

The Wow Factor

In case there wasn't enough to wow you on this cake, we went and added one more amazing feature to it! The idea for this came from the birthday girl's mom. We were so inspired by this idea, we just ran with it! I'm sure we don't have to tell you what it is, but incase you missed the obvious... check out the birthday girl, in her turn out gear, climbing the ladder, with the hose, to put out the fire on her big 16! I will not lie, this was one of those things that we had no idea HOW we were going to do it. But, like everything else, we figured it out and it was awesome!

The Feedback
We delivered this cake to Garnerville, NY on the day of the Sweet 16. It looked like it was going to be one fantastic party!! Well, apparently it was! We received such gratitude from this customer in the form of a Facebook thank you, and email and even a thank you note in the mail. They even included a photo of the cake on her thank you cards.
It's gratitude like this that make what we do so special. :)

The email: I just wanted to thank you for the beautiful cake. People were talking about it all night. I couldn't imagine how the design would actually come out but you guys did a great job making that come together the way you did for her. Thank you so much for everything and I am looking foward to using you again in the future. A lot of people asked where I got the cake and I gave them your cards or told them. Once again thank you for all the time and effort you put ino making that cake a possibility and adding to her great sweet 16.

Why the Newsletter Hiatus?

You may have noticed that our normally prompt newsletter has been on a little hiatus recently. You might even be wondering why. Or you may have been too busy drooling over all of the new delicious cakes that you haven't even noticed. ;) Well, let me explain why. But, before I do, let's just have a brief overview of our company:

Cake Devils consists of Cake Devil Stacy and Cake Devil Erica... that's it. No one else. Just the two of us to bake, decorate and deliver all these cakes. Not to mention, keep stocked with ingredients and supplies, take orders, write contracts, keep reporting, etc. Oh yes, I also maintain our website and social media. So, yes, we are busy little Devils. No complaints about that at all.

What caused the pause in our newsletter was actually growth. This was a great problem. Our Newsletter list grew too long to send out our blasts the way we had been and we hit a road block. Being just two people, we just did not have the time to resolve it as quickly as we would have liked. But it is resolved now and we will resume our newsletters! Sweet! :D

Happy Friday Evening!
Cake Devils here! Busy Cake Devils, up to our ears in cake! In case you couldn't tell from the tardiness of our April Newsletter. Since we're late, we'll keep this short and sweet... like us! :D

March was a busy, busy month full of hustle and bustle with orders, tastings, shows and everyday business. The last minute weather postponement of the Suffern Crowne Plaza Bridal Show gave us two shows just two days apart. We had the Bethel Woods Bridal Expo only two day after the snow date. The excitement of the brides and other guests was infectious... or maybe that was the sugar high from our cake samples. ;) In any case, both venues are absolutely beautiful and in very different ways. We highly recommend checking them both out for your special events. If you book the Crowne Plaza, you'll already be heading in our direction for a cake and if you go with Bethel Woods, don't forget to call us for your beautiful centerpiece of a cake as well!

And now for some BIG news that we're very excited to share with you! We're gearing up to launch a Referral program where you'll be able to earn credit towards cake!! You'll earn a small percentage of every order you send our way. You can hold onto those credits if you want... Send us enough referral and maybe you'll earn yourself a free cake! You never know! Stay tuned for details. We'll be launching this summer!
Before we sign off, we just want to briefly mention our recent travels to the National Capital Area Cake Show where we took home not one, but two blue ribbons... but more on that in our next newsletter! Holiday Newsletter

Really?? The holidays are here already??? Where does the time go?
Wow! It's been a whirlwind for the Cake Devils!!! We've been BUSY Little Devils!!! We have lots to be thankful for and lots to share with you. We'll try to keep this short and sweet, but it's not going to be easy! This Holiday Newsletter is jam packed!!!

First we want to talk about the Orange County Partnership Annual Event which took place at Anthony's Pier 9 the beginning of this month. What an amazing opportunity that was for us! We would like to extend a great big THANK YOU to everyone at the Partnership for the fantastic opportunity. We are so proud of the amazing replica of the Mediacom building that we made as the centerpiece for this incredible, almost 600 person event! We also want to extend great thanks to Mediacom for getting us the photos and blueprints of the building which allowed us to create the building to scale. In addition, we have to thank Ryerson Studio for the YouTube video of the model they created, which we watched thousands of times while constructing our replica! (Check out Mike DelPriore's video here.) This, by far, was our largest (and most intense) project yet! On the night of the event, everything went off without a hitch. We successfully delivered the Mediacom building (that was too big to fit through a door), a ton of cake, 32 pounds of sauces and 10 pounds of sugar shards. We had a fantastic evening, met some AMAZING and INCREDIBLE people, and watched with glee as almost 600 people enjoyed our Devils Food Cake with Chocolate Butter Cream, Pumpkin Spice Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Icing and Baileys Irish Cream Cake with Baileys Buttercream. We're still ecstatic from the rave reviews! :D

Congratulations once again to Mediacom on winning the Golden Shovel Award!

As we came down from that sugar high, quite a few days were filled with spicy Gingerbread, rather than cake, especially for Cake Devil Stacy! As you may know, Cake Devil Stacy teaches Wilton Method Cake Decorating Classes at the Michaels in Ramsey. More information can be found here. In preparation for teaching a gingerbread house class, I created an entire gingerbread village and did a gingerbread house demo at the store! This was quite a different experience from doing cakes!

Then we received an invitation (ok, request for help) from a friend who is a member of the Artists In the Park for Cake Devils to join them as mentors at The Bear Mountain Inn as they created Gingerbread Houses to be raffled off for the holiday season. The day was a lot of fun and we met some wonderful people and made some great contacts!!! The Bear Mountain Inn recently reopened after 7 years, and it's absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend checking it out! The Artists are a group of really great people and did a fantastic job!! Check out their work:

With the holidays upon us, we hope that you are all as excited as we are for this festive season. It’s our first holiday season as Cake Devils and as we look back upon this past year, we are overwhelmed with joy by all of the support that we have received. From the start we have had many opportunities to provide the service and product that we love most...delicious and exquisite cakes! All year long, we have been fortunate to help you celebrate many birthdays, showers, weddings and other joyful occasions. The feedback we have received has been uplifting and amazing and we couldn't be more appreciative. Equally exciting were the events we were able to partake in, such as the People to People fair, the Wedding Wire Networking Event, Anthony's Pier 9 bridal show, and, we’re thrilled to have become active members of the Wedding Vendors of the Hudson Valley, just to name a few. These opportunities have allowed us to share our unique products and services and have provided us the chance to meet people who have been able to help us grow and develop our business. We cannot thank you enough...and we are really excited for the plans we have in the works for the new year. We have some big changes coming and some exciting things happening! We thank you for all you have shared with us this year.

Of course, this wouldn’t be our newsletter if we didn’t share some recent cakes with you!

With so much sadness in the news recently, it's more important than ever to count our blessings and make the most of everyday. We wish you and your loved ones all a joyous and peaceful holiday season and a wonderful new year. Take the time to enjoy life. Tell your family you love them. Hug them a little tighter this year. Celebrate the good times and always make sure there’s a cake involved! :D

Hello friends! Hopefully this finds you all delightfully enjoying your summer. It always amazes us how quickly it flies by! And you know how we Devils love the heat! :) We hope you all kicked off the month with a tasty 4th of July celebration and are having some fun in the sun.

July sure has been a month full of celebrations and surprises for the Devils. With so many parties, weddings, and birthdays, it was hard to narrow it down....but here are a few festive cakes that we chose to share with you.

Our little Devil wheels are always spinning, and we're always looking to create new flavors to excite your taste buds. After a little experimenting and a whole lot of tasting, we are excited to offer a new devilcious flavor that you may have noticed on our website recently!! This new Devilishly Delightful flavor is Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake!!! It's so sweet and delicious with the taste of a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie and the soft, moist texture of a freshly baked cake! You may wanna keep it in mind for your next special occasion, it's sinful!!

July was a busy month for us with lots of new projects brewing. We're working hard and busy planning for the upcoming months. Stay tuned to our newsletters, as we'll have some exciting news and announcements to share! Maybe we'll even have big enough news to post an in between newsletter! :)

Since we seem to always recognize a (nameless) customer in our newsletters, maybe we should have a little “Customer of the Month” section. What do you think? Check out the Blog entry right above this Newsletter for July's Customer of the Month! We love our customers!!!

We wish you all a fun filled August. There's a lot going on that we're really looking forward to. Some exciting events, and really fun cakes! We're really anxious to see what magnificent cakes are displayed at the ICES convention in Reno this weekend. Us Devils always appreciate beautiful cakes!

July is here!!! Once again we're happy to reach out to all of you and say thanks to all of our faithful cake lovers and welcome to so many new fans on our Facebook page. www.Facebook.com/CakeDevils We hope everyone had a sweet Spring and that you're all ready for summer. We'd also like to say Congratulations to Eric, the winner of our Facebook Raffle. Eric is happily munching on his oatmeal raisin cookies right now! Enjoy!!

June was a fun filled month, and also a scorcher! Makes us Devils tremendously grateful that our kitchen has great AC!! Something we were nervous about when hunting for a new kitchen space during the winter! There was so much to celebrate this month and we hope all of you Dad's and Grad's out there had a lot of tasty fun. Here are a couple cakes from some of those celebrations.

Of course many of you had other special occasions this past month that we were thrilled to provide cakes for. We even had way too much fun making a cake for a bachelor party that we will not be sharing with the public. But, if you would like to see the cake, send us an email and we'll share a picture with you. Here are some other cakes we really enjoyed creating.

Amidst all of our baking we spent a lovely evening catching up with many of our favorite fellow wedding vendors. Thank you so much to those involved for putting together such a fun evening. We hope you enjoyed your goodies and we can't wait to see you all again.

We had the opportunity to meet a couple of other local cake artists and always enjoy time with others that share our passion for cake. Speaking of other cake lovers... everyone's gearing up around the country for the biggest cake show of the year. The annual ICES convention is coming up the first weekend in August... Reno is going to be really sweet that weekend!

We hope you all have a happy 4th of July. We have great things to look forward to and we can't wait to share it all with you. Till then....we'll be at the kitchen creating some devilishly delicious new cake flavors! ;-)

Happy June everyone!
The Cake Devils are really happy to have connected with so many people this season and are also thrilled to welcome so many new fans to our Facebook page! www.Facebook.com/CakeDevils

May was a busy month, full of so many sweet and delicious events.
To recap, we had a great time at The Great American Cake Show. We met some really talented cake artists and also brushed up on some of our sinful skills. We had a table at The People to People's Child Expo where we got to meet a lot of members of the local community and feed them some tasty treats. Another highlight of the month was The Wedding Wire Happy Hour where we got to meet and connect with so many wonderful wedding professionals in our area. Thanks to that event, we were able to work
with Rossana Baker Events and donate cupcakes for The Step Into Spring Breast Cancer Event at Anthony's Pier 9.

In addition to all that....we of course baked some cakes. ;-) Here are a few that were a lot of fun to make!

Before we sign off, we just want to take a moment to recognize how much we love our customers, fellow vendors, friends, and family. We appreciate all of the support and encouragement we have received from each and every one of you.

Right now there are two customers that really stand out in our minds.
A quote from one: “Your professionalism and desire to please your customers is evident and has impressed me. Maybe you should change your name to "Cake Angels."
The other is our “Cake Angel.” She was so happy with us, that she is being such an advocate of our business, trying to help us get our name out into the community.

We hope you are both reading this and we thank you from the bottom of our little devil hearts.

We have a lot of fun stuff coming up this month that we and we look forward to updating you in our July newsletter!
